Greetings!

Hornito HabitatYou and your team have been selected to visit and report on the status of Pele Base, our latest Martian Colony. This outpost is situated within an ancient lava tube cave along the lower North flank of Olympus Mons. Pele Base is home to 100 colonists who have constructed this community within a large cave after an earlier scout mission reported signs of water within this and other nearby lava tube caves.

You will be describing your visit to Pele Base to others back here on Earth, so keep in mind, they may not be knowledgeable about how one could live on another planet. We would like to have your team report on this colony with information regarding, but not limited to, the colony's physical structure, how its food is produced, how the colonists provide themselves with the various materials they need to survive, and what they do for fun in their spare time.

Also, please report on how the colony governs itself and provides for basic city services. A basic evaluation of how lava tube caves are created both on the Earth and on Mars, and what the differences might be, would likewise be helpful.

To assist you, the The Mars Society Central Martian Command will provide various resources on the official Web site, and we will be available to answer any questions that may arise.

Goodluck on your visit, and we look forward to your report!
